There is a landmark of note in the northern Sunset Mountains that consists of a Great Abyss, and a floating crystal.
The Abyss is almost perfectly round, three miles in diameter, and no one knows how far down it goes.
The Great Crystal is a pillar of rough stone, one mile wide and five miles tall. It floats, slowly bobbing up and down, turning at a speed of one revolution per 24 hours. It glows softly with an inner light of constantly shifting colours.
There is a Dwarven city that was established so far before Nightfall that a small community was there when the Eleniquendár encountered the location.
Attempts to study the Great crystal closer have turned out detrimental, as when anyone who has managed to cross the Abyss to land on the Crystal, the Crystal would react by starting to descend at a rate of a yard per hour, and start to emit lightening bolts that grow increasingly dangerous the longer the person who landed on the Crystal remained.
Attempts to take samples from the Crystal caused even greater reactions, with the one time a person got away with a sample the Crystal's adverse reaction got so dangerous it caused major damage.
At the most, all people can do is treat it as a curiosity, a tourist attraction, aaaand protection from the Greater Moon.
The Crystal casts a mild magical field that seems to have inspired the protective shields the Eleniquendár built over their Elenimbér. The Crystal is odd in that it acts like it is Living Stone despite floating. Most other locations of floating rocks may have arcane crystals but are usually not Living Stone.
As a result, the Great Crystal is, at best, a nice piece of landscape (and there s more than one well-place waystone that allows people who scry via the stones, to have a nice view.
Of course the Abyss is a different cooking vessel of swimming things, since it seems to open into the wild regions of the Deep Arcane... but it seems the Crystal also shields the Abyss from letting Eldritch Entities from emerge into the Mundane and cause dangerous havoc.
