Nightlands: Arcane Deeps

I have been intending on elaborating my thoughts on this for some time now and have decided to get on with it.

So at it's origin, this conceptual model of the Arcane comes from the Quendár and is the dominant interpretation throughout the Northern Nightlands due to the prevalence of the Church of the Arcane. It is the most commonly agreed upon perception of all Quendár priests.

The way the Quendár conceive the Arcane (as in the magical realms that exist beyond the Mundane) is in an idea of "Deeps", like all existence is and ocean and the Mundane is the dry land that rises from it.

The uppermost layer of these Deeps is where the Fae Realms are located, since they are so close to the Mundane that they can be geographically locked. How ever this geo-locking only applies to the topmost Fae realms and there can be deeper ones that have less connection to mundane geography. Often these deeper realms are nested within other realms, like the Seelie palace is a realm located within the Seelie capital city, and the Queen's Domain is within one wing of the palace, despite both having a larger space within than their external footprint indicates.

The Fae Realms partially intersect with the upper Elemental Realms of the Arcane, predominantly crossing with the realms of Air and the upper Earth. There are parts of the Fae that cross with Water - usually 5hose realms geo-locked with oceanic locations.

The Fae rarely touches the Arcane Realm of Fire, as it tends to be too harsh and wild, and never crosses into Deep Earth aka the Living Stone, as it is too ordered.

However there are the quasi-fae Basalt Realms, which are firmly located in the Living Stone, though a part of it that runs close to the Great Flame (the realm of Fire).

It is once one gets past the Elemental Realms that the Arcane sta4ts to get w8ld and unknown, with very little understtod about it.

What is known about it is that this is the region where vast incomprehensible eldritch entities reside, but it is also where secure pocket realms tend to be hidden.

Only known between themselves and their closet family, this is where the bulk of the arcane presence of the Three Sisters resides, tucked into three interlinked hidden pocket realms.

Other such secure pocket realms in this region include Asgard, and Celanyi's little pockets of couples she has "rescued".

The Queen's Domain, home of the Seelie Queen is also in this region, despite it's Fae nature and links to the Ruby Palace. It is in fact very deep even in this area, as it touches the Netherworld - the deepest known Arcane Realm.

The Netherworld, much like the Wild Arcane above it, is prettymuch wild and little understood, with strange native creatures that would be inimical to almost every other realm, including the Mundane. What makes it a bit better understood is the unique link some Quendár have to it - a link that is a natural characteristic of priests.

Quendár priests can sense souls of dead Quendár resting there, though even the Netherworld has its own depths, characterised by how easy or hard it is to reach souls, as souls can "sink" the longer they remain in the Netherworld.

It is harder for priests to sense souls of the other immortal races, as they are not usually atuned to them, and the other races have different rhythms of how they go about death. It is very difficult to sense the natives of the realm as they blend into the background, having been described as background "air-currents" or shadows to priests.

The natives of the Netherworld seem to behave as if they percieve dead souls in a similar way - as if the souls are part of the landscape.

Beyond the Netherworld things are completely unknown. What is believed though is there is, far beneath, a Divine Realm, the place that all life originates and the inner soul of the Universe, the Holy Arcane, can be found.
